Fillout forms in Airtable and more

I’ve been using Fillout to solve multiple forms fill issues that I’ve encountered with other third party solutions. So far so good and the main problem that Fillout has been good at is handling conditional related fields and field filtering within a single form. I can also use the flexible embed properties to use the Fillout form in other apps (like Stacker) where support is weak or non-existing for relational fields using conditional logic and filtering. The ability to string together multiple forms using “Page Logic” is also a big plus as is the ability to include subforms to enter multiple related records within an existing form. Looking forward to exploring other integrations beyond Airtable too!

Welcome to the community, @pnelson! :smiley:

Thanks so much for sharing your positive review of Fillout! I haven’t had time to check it out myself yet… it sounds like it has some very useful features built into it!

I must echo your sentiments @pnelson.

I have spent the day comparing Jotform and Fillout to determine which one to use on a new project. With Fillout, the integration with Airtable is seamless. Provide the API, a base and table name, and you’re immediately presented with two sets of fields to populate your forms.

  1. All of the fields in your table, including easy-to-configure dropdowns populated by the linked table fields.

  2. The native Fillout fields.

One can restrict the form dropdown entries to a view, choose which field(s) to display, and (importantly for me in the upcoming project) choose which field to search by - it doesn’t have to be the primary key.

All the validation and conditional logic one would expect from a 3rd party form are there, of course.

Two thumbs up from me!

I’ve spent a lot of time with popular form builders like Typeform and Jotform. I’ve also had to use mini-extensions form app on a key number of projects. Fillout combines best of both worlds. It’s powerful in the sense that it can do a lot and looks great while doing it.

Some of the things that stood out to me were;

  • You can create conditional-logic banners/alerts based on input responses that appear as user is filling out the form.
  • Form pages and sequences
  • Stores results even partial/failed submissions
  • Easy to add pixels and embed code like chat-bots for form pages
  • Their “Other Fields” tabs extends utility beyond the field types Airtable provides natively.

However it is a new product and what comes with new software are its share of little bugs but their team has been outstanding every step of the way. They were able to implement patches and solve technical problems as they arrived.

They’ve fixed every bug I’ve encountered except for this one is still pending;

  • You currently can not prefill multi-select and linked relationship records with more than 1 value using URL parameter

One of their founders Dominic Whyte is very active on Facebook Airtable communities which assures me they’re one of us. Definitely worth trying!
