Field's "Last modified by" in Web API or Scripting?

Hi,
Are any of you aware of any way to get the ‘Last Modified By’ property of a specific field via an API call, or using the script?

The only way I know how to access it is via dedicated field (“Modified by”), or using data from the newly introduced Webhooks. I wonder if there’s a different way, which avoids the unnecessary clutter of adding new fields to a table.

As far as I know, you would need to create a field to grab that information.

On the plus side, you can create many different “Last Modified By” fields – each one tied to either a single field, multiple fields, or all fields in your entire table.
